DR FREDA HINSCHE OTTO HAS BEEN APPOINTED COMMISSIONER ON THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY CITIZENS’ ECONOMY AND EFFICIENCY COMMISSION

On September 18, 2007, Dr. Freda Hinsche Otto was appointed by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to the Citizens’ Economy and Efficiency Commission.
Dr. Hinsche Otto is currently a principal in the firm of Hinsche Otto Consulting Group. Prior to that, she served as Assistant Vice Chancellor of the California State University, Division of University Advancement. Dr. Hinsche Otto is also active in the Long Beach community serving as a Member of the Long Beach Transit Board of Directors, St. Mary Medical Center Board of Trustees, Long Beach Nonprofit Partnership Board of Directors, St. Mary Catholic Housing Corporation Board of Directors and past president, Soroptimist International of Long Beach.
Her previous employment includes serving as Executive Vice President of the St. Mary Medical Center Foundation and ten years with the University of Southern California in University Relations. She has a BA and MPA from California State University, Long Beach and received her PhD from the University of Southern California School of Public Policy and Administration.
In commenting on her appointment, Dr. Hinsche Otto stated, “It is my honor and privilege to serve on this distinguished body. I appreciate the confidence of Supervisor Don Knabe in making this appointment and I look forward to the opportunity to participate actively on this commission.”
Created in 1964, the Commission is charged with reviewing all aspects of local government management, operations and policies and submits recommendations to the Board of Supervisors with the objective of improving the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of local government. The members of this Commission provide their time to the County on a voluntary basis and serve without pay. Each of the five members of the Board of Supervisors appoints four commissioners for a two-year term and they may be reappointed. The 21st member has been created for the previous years Grand Jury Chairperson. This position provides for the follow-up on the recommendations made in the previous year’s Grand Jury Final Report.
